No to the Vicarage Road HMO proposal. (Yes to more affordable housing in the right areas!)
The Issue
Wollaston needs more affordable housing, homes for first-time buyers, homes for those on a low income and homes for those with additional needs.
However, large houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) are not the answer.
We need homes provided by the local authority or trusted housing associations for both social rent or low-cost home ownership schemes.
Objecting to the proposal to change the use of Rosemary Care Home into a HMO (P23/1229)
A planning application has been registered with Dudley Council which seeks to change the former site of the Rosemary Care Home, 65 Vicarage Road, into a 23-bed HMO.
This is simply too many living spaces to cram into the existing building and has the potential to create issues around parking and noise for neighbours.
Wollaston at present does not have many HMOs and we should not be looking at this option to address the housing crisis.
