Many cities around California, and the country are banning the construction of new gas stations, with news repoirts coming out daily like this.

But not Cathedral City, folks.  No, they want to build TWO GAS STATIONS ON DATE PALM, one 135 ft from a residence, and the other less than a mile away at the corner of Date Palm and 111.

WE WERE TOLD the Krogers/Food4Less gas station was for our neighborhood convenience.  Except we already have a gas station in the Food4Less parking lot, and don't need another.  And we don't find it a convenience to have a gas station built in our neighborhood, adding pollution, noise, traffic and crime.

The permit for the gas station proposed at Victoria and Date Palm has been denied. Krogers/Food4Less has appealed, and now this will go in front of City Council, none of whom have responded to contact. Our District 2 Council Member, Nancy Ross, we were told, has been instructed by the city attorney to not speak on this matter.

The burden, therefore, is on the people in this neighborhood and CIty to make their voices heard, and let Cathedral City, California know we do not need yet another gas station across the street from a gas station, and less than a mile of 10 other ones.

Contact City Council, and please try to attend the upcoming meeting on this matter, October 12th, remotely or in person.
