NO TO OFW ONLINE VOTING

NO TO OFW ONLINE VOTING
The Issue
Stop Online Voting for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) which was implemented by the Commission On Elections without proper consultation with overseas voters, without installing the proper security measures, thereby directly violating Republic Act No. 9189 or "The Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003", and the constitutional safeguards on securing the secrecy and privacy of the ballot.
As a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and now the Deputy Vice Chairman for Migrant Workers Affairs of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), I receive dozens of messages daily from my fellow OFWs who vehemently oppose the new and highly untested online voting system imposed upon them by the COMELEC.
All of them share the same fears such as vote buying, duress, online fraud, and other related vices of consent that threatens the online voting system.
With the legal assistance of Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, Atty. Bobbet Torreon, and Atty. Glenn Chong, let us strongly urge COMELEC to revert to the automated election system as prescribed by law in the pursuit of fair and honest elections.
