Hello Supporters - Our voice has fallen on deaf ears. The city council has not voted to stop the Safe Outdoor Space in Albuquerque. Our own neighborhood association president only contacted 7 people and they voted to have a Facilitated Mediation with the Pastor who applied for the safe outdoor space. It was mediated by a lawyer who works for the city! Yes, not fair at all. Another approved SOS space has been appealed but, and the hearing officer determined that that non profit did not properly notify the neighborhood. So again the non profit must notify the neighborhood, and then again the neighborhood, hotel associations, and business can appeal again. See the vicious circle? Our own neighborhood association president, hid the issue of the SOS and only contacted residents within 1 block of his home. We all notified the city facilitation department, but again, no one listened and the voice of the residents were ignored. By the suggestion of other neighborhood residents that are contributing towards a legal fund, we will set up a page to begin to fund our own legal representation.
