Let’s keep the community involvement

On Monday the Ordinances and Rules Committee met and postponed the matter for Dec 3rd meeting as they wanted Ward 5 councilor LaCava’s opinion; which he was not prepared to declare. It is NOW when we need the voices of everyone to come together in opposition (send e-mails or call), so that the message is clear, City zoning is not up for grabs by developers or special interest. Our town does not have an obligation to maximize the profit line for developers at the expense of residents well being.
One new development I saw was how the petition by developer has an agreement calling out for use exceptions as zone business b, but this further emphasizes that this request in its CORE is SPOT Zoning to fit their project needs; and the agreement one can say is a form of Contract Zoning that is also illegal.
Please reach out to ALL City Council members, as this case sets a precedent for our town. Today, this may be a corner in ward 5, but it can practically materialize as encroachment in other parts of town.
Transparency and good development come from zoning enforcement and playing by the rules.
Thank you for the continued support, and I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving with peace, warmth and loved ones by your side.
