The City Council just voted to prioritize our health and environment! Because of your advocacy, they voted 7-0 in favor of No New Turf in our city parks.
THE NEXT STEP: Hold the School Board Accountable
Now, we need the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School Board to follow the City’s lead. We are calling on them to commit to no new turf—especially at our elementary schools—and to hear from the community directly.
YOUR ACTION: Use our Action Guide to write to the School Board. Demand they schedule a public forum to so they can hear directly from the community about turf on our campuses.
STUDENT ACTION: Franklin Elementary Recess Protest!
Our students are taking the lead to keep their campus green.
When: Monday, February 2, 2026 @ Lunch Recess.
Where: At the Franklin Elementary track.
Who: Current Franklin Students ONLY. This is a student-led, student-participation event—adults/parents should NOT attend the protest. No trespassing on campus!
Action: Wear GREEN and bring your creative signs!
Show Solidarity: Wear Green on Monday to show your solidarity. We also encourage families at other campuses to feel empowered to organize their own student-led actions.
