Instead of fixing local traffic congestion, the State Labor Government has introduced Legislation in Parliament to delete the Roe 8 road reserve forever.

Labor has recklessly deleted key road reserves before, like the Fremantle Eastern Bypass. Instead of building better roads, Labor sold off the road reserve causing ongoing local traffic congestion and pushing trucks and cars onto local roads.

If Labor does it again with Roe 8, cars and trucks will have no option but to continue traveling through our suburbs, past homes, parks and schools.

Roe 8 & 9 are critical missing links in Perth’s long-planned highway system. We shouldn’t be stuck in traffic because Labor listens to noisy out-of-town protesters over our local community.

Our community want Roe 8 & 9 because it will make our community safer and create local jobs.

The Federal Government supports our community. I negotiated with my Federal colleagues for $1.2 billion in Federal funding for Roe 8 & 9 to be locked into the Federal Budget to fix congestion. This funding is available right now to build this road.

But Premier Mark McGowan, Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and the State Labor Government are refusing to access $1.2 billion in Federal Government funding to make our community safer and create WA jobs.

It’s one thing to not access $1.2 billion in Federal funding available right now to build Roe 8 & 9, its another thing to spitefully and recklessly delete the road reserve forever, stopping future governments from building this road.

Tell Labor… don’t delete the Roe 8 road reserve forever.
