No One Should Fear Calling 911
The Issue

Every person witnessing an overdose should feel safe calling 911 without fear that seeking emergency medical assistance will expose them to prosecution for certain low-level offenses discovered solely because they tried to save a life.
Every second counts during an overdose. While West Virginia has Good Samaritan protections, many people still fear calling 911 because they worry about legal consequences.
We support strengthening West Virginia’s Good Samaritan protections so that saving a life is always the first priority. No one should have to choose between calling for help and protecting themselves.
