We spent last Saturday in Simi Valley, the location of one of America's worst nuclear meltdowns. It was the 65th anniversary of the Santa Susana Field Lab's meltdown and the site remains contaminated today. Special guest Justin Mikita (Tony-award-winning producer and husband of Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson) talked about how the toxic site may have caused his pediatric cancer.

We also discussed the government bodies that promised a lawsuit if Boeing, NASA, and the Department of Energy changed the cleanup agreements. They did. They'll be able to leave the majority of the Field Lab contaminated through a sweetheart deal with California's EPA. It's been a year since the deal was made, but there hasn't been a lawsuit from Los Angeles County, the County of Ventura, the City of Los Angeles or the City of Simi Valley.

Parents Against Santa Susana Field Lab and our friends are phone banking today from 12pm to 7pm PST to remind our electeds of their promise and show them that our community is holding them to it. We are TIRED of hearing of more and more people being diagnosed with rare cancers and WE DESERVE BETTER.
