No more gender discrimination in sports!! Equal insurance for all!!

The Issue

My daughter is a proud member of the girls' flag football team at William Amos Hough High School. Like all athletes, she puts her heart and soul into every game she plays. But on May 19, a catastrophic accident changed everything. She endured emergency surgery and now faces another operation next year. It's a daunting path for her and our family.

What's more concerning is the glaring inequality in the support system that our high school offers its athletes. The boys playing football receive a $50,000 accidental policy at no charge, securing them against unfortunate incidents just like my daughter's. But the girls' flag football team, including my daughter, enjoys no such safety net - a stark difference that only adds to our burden at a time when support is most needed.

The benefits of sports extend beyond the playing field. They instill discipline, camaradism, resilience, and a never-give-up attitude in our children. Every athlete deserves the same rights and resources, irrespective of their gender. It's shocking that today, in the 21st Century, we are fighting for a fundamental right for our children - insurance parity in sports.

Before another accident happens, before another young sportswoman has to pay a price too high, we demand an urgent review and amendment of the policy. William Amos Hough High School should mandate equal insurance coverage for all football teams in the spirit of equality and for the well-being of its athletes. Please sign this petition to fight for a fairer future for our daughters.
