Thank you to everyone who has been sharing and signing — your voices are making a difference. In just the last couple weeks, our petition gained 200 new supporters. This growing momentum shows how strongly people feel about holding the owners of 1 Up Lounge accountable!

In related news, according to publicly available jail records, Hugh Hershall Newmark, the owner of 1-Up Lounge, was arrested by the Bellingham Police Department on August 11, 2025 and booked on Assault in the 4th Degree – Domestic Violence charges (Case No. 5A0600007, Bellingham Municipal Court). He was released on August 13, 2025, on personal recognizance.

This development further highlights why accountability and reform are urgently needed. We cannot ignore patterns of conduct that affect our community’s safety and well-being. 1-Up Needs to close or transfer to new owners!
