As an independent group of union members, we are outraged by the planned operational halt at the UPS Swan Island Hub in Portland, Oregon, slated for March 2025. This so-called renovation, aimed at automating the facility, is nothing but a blatant attack on our jobs. The majority of our workforce will be cut, with only a few positions temporarily retained in 'pop-up hubs.'

Our union's General President, O'Brien, claimed that our current contract fight was to "ensure that our members employed at UPS had a future that was not gonna be replaced by artificial intelligence and robots." However, it is now clear that these were empty promises. We believe O'Brien likely knew that UPS planned to automate their buildings and chose to mislead us.

We will not stand idly by while our livelihoods are sacrificed for corporate profit and deceitful leadership. We demand immediate action to protect our jobs and secure our future. We call on all members to unite and fight against this betrayal.
