No GenAI in Arts Education

The Issue

Schools across America have been inundated by AI companies promising "cutting edge" technology. But Generative AI devalues art and teaches students to take shortcuts rather than learning how to write, draw, animate, or film their own visions. It is detrimental to both creative expression and critical thinking skills.

Recently, a group of 40 prominent artists, writers, editors, publishers, and educators sent an open letter to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks condemning their promotion of AI in the College of Liberal Arts. If you agree with these creative professionals that GenAI has NO PLACE in education - especially in arts education - please sign this petition so that other schools across the country understand that this is not what the people want the future of education to be.
