Schools across America have been inundated by AI companies promising "cutting edge" technology. But Generative AI devalues art and teaches students to take shortcuts rather than learning how to write, draw, animate, or film their own visions. It is detrimental to both creative expression and critical thinking skills.

Recently, a group of 40 prominent artists, writers, editors, publishers, and educators sent an open letter to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks condemning their promotion of AI in the College of Liberal Arts.
