Court Hearing Update - April 8, 2022 Friday

It's not over. 

So... today was supposed to be the court hearing for the abuser Keith Robert Watson of Traverse City, Michigan. 

Yesterday The People (aka, the Prosecution/Advocate's Office) did something great!! They filed a response to the Set Aside Conviction Motion. That is basically legal jargon saying that they filed a legal document with the court. The document states to the Judge that it is in the best interest of Public Safety to deny Keith Robert Watson the expungement he wants. This is great! They are standing unified with me on this - SO thankful.

I no longer feel like I am the only person opposing this expungement/set aside conviction. I have the Prosecution's Office and thousands of supporters on my side for this fight. I have a loving family and friends who are here by my side. 

Thank you to everyone who has donated to promote my petition, thank you to everyone who has signed my petition, thank you to everyone who has shared my petition and thank you to everyone who has reached out to me through all of this. Thank you to every single survivor that shared their story with me. You are all precious and please know that I fight for each and every one of you with what I am accomplishing here. It's time the public put it's foot down and demanded that we no longer cater to these violent offenders.

It's time the Justice System stops prioritizing the offenders who traumatize and take from innocent individuals. I continue to live with the trauma every day - he should have to live with that record and all of the consequences of doing what he did to me. He took my innocence. He took my security. You don't want to be labeled an abuser? Don't be one in the first place. 

I will post an update as soon as I hear word from Michigan with a new date. I hope this won't get ugly, but I am prepared to fight him on this. I will continue to share my story and warn others. This is not just about me. This is about everyone who potentially comes near him. This is about anyone who might need to call 911 on him one day. This is about the police officers who might need to respond to a 911 call on him one day. This is a matter of Public Safety for all and Justice for me. 

This is not over and I will not be silent.
