I Haven't Felt This Kind of HOPE in Nearly 20 Years.

I'm 40 years old.
And I want to tell you something....
There have only been a handful of moments in my adult life when I've felt genuinely excited about the possibility of political change.
The first was in 2004, when I was finally old enough to cast my very first presidential ballot. The second was when Barack Obama emerged as a presidential hopeful and reminded an entire generation what HOPE could feel like.
And now, here we are. 2026.
Watching what happened in Michigan on Tuesday, watching Abdul El-Sayed's election for Senate, and watching Americans across this country make their voices heard has awakened something in me that I haven't felt in a very long time.
HOPE.
Not blind faith in a political party. Not the belief that any one politician is going to save us.
Hope in US....WE, THE PEOPLE.
The petition challenging Hakeem Jeffries' leadership bid is gaining traction, and I want you to understand why I started this one, too.
Because I believe the power of the American people extends far beyond Election Day.
We have the power to demand transparency. To challenge the influence of money in politics. To insist that healthcare be treated as a human necessity rather than a privilege. To question the people who seek positions of leadership and demand to know whose interests they intend to represent.
We entrusted these people with our votes. And with those votes, we entrusted them with something far more valuable.
Our interests. Our children's futures. And our vision of what America can become.
I don't want my children to inherit a country where political leadership is treated like an entitlement, where wealthy donors have greater access than ordinary citizens, or where people have forgotten that elected officials work for THEM.
I want them to inherit a country where the people understand their power and aren't afraid to exercise it.
And for the first time in a very long time, I feel like we're beginning to remember.
We are not spectators in our own democracy. We are its owners.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this petition, consider its message, and add their name.
Whatever happens next, I hope we never lose sight of something important....
The election was not the finish line. It was the beginning of our responsibility to hold those we elected accountable.
The seats belong to the people. The power belongs to the people.
And the future?
That belongs to our children.
