Diciamo NO al RIGASSIFICATORE di Vado Ligure/Savona "Italis LNG” (già “Golar Tundra”), un enorme impianto industriale galleggiante (293x43x55m; capacità di 170mila metri cubi di gas naturale liquefatto), attualmente operante nel porto di Piombino, che il governo italiano intende posizionare in mare a soli 2,8km dalla costa di Savona per una durata di 20 anni, in mezzo al Santuario dei Cetacei Pelagos e a pochi metri dall’Area Marina Protetta di Bergeggi, perché:

• È contro la transizione ecologica verso cui il mondo, Italia ed Europa incluse, lavora al fine di ridurre l’utilizzo delle fonti fossili.
• È inutile e anti economico: gas addizionale non serve né all’Italia né all’Europa che sono e saranno in sovraccapacità di terminali GNL a fronte di una continua riduzione del consumo di gas. Lo spostamento della Golar Tundra a Vado Ligure/Savona è infatti stato dichiarato inutile da Snam stessa in comunicazioni in sede di tavoli di lavoro. Pensato come mezzo per fare dell’Italia un “Hub di Esportazione del Gas” all’inizio della cosiddetta “emergenza energetica”, attualmente tutti i paesi si sono dotati di fonti di gas, per cui tale spostamento è stato dichiarato anti economico direttamente da Eni in comunicazioni sui media nazionali.
• È pericoloso: unico in tutto il mondo ad essere previsto offshore così vicino alla costa e centri abitati (2,8km), questo impianto industriale è dotato di una tecnologia inadatta a stare in mare aperto (come dichiarato da Snam stessa). In caso molto probabile di forti mareggiate, vicino a porti ad alto traffico e a impianti petroliferi e chimici a terra, il rischio di incidente maggiore è altissimo.
• Danneggia gravemente l’ecosistema marino: prevede il posizionamento di ancore gigantesche e scavi di chilometri in uno specchio di mare con elevata biodiversità, preleva ingenti quantità di acqua del mare (fino a 18.800 metri cubi di acqua di mare -l’equivalente di 7 piscine olimpiche - ogni ora) riversandola poi in mare ad una temperatura inferiore di 7 gradi centigradi, versa inoltre in mare enormi quantità di candeggina (31,5 tonnellate all'anno);

We say NO to the Vado Ligure/Savona REGASSIFIER  "Italis LNG” (previously known as “Golar Tundra”), a huge floating industrial plant (293x43x55m; capacity 170,000 cubic metres of LNG -liquefied natural gas), currently operating in the port of Piombino, which the Italian government intends to position in the open sea just 2.8km off the coast of Savona for a 20-year period, in the middle of the Pelagos Cetacean Sanctuary and a few metres from the Bergeggi Marine Protected Area, because:

• It goes against the ecological transition towards which the World, including Italy and Europe, is working to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
• It is useless and economically not viable: additional gas is not needed by either Italy or Europe that are and will be in overcapacity of LNG terminals, as gas consumption continues to fall. The relocation of the Golar Tundra to Vado Ligure/Savona has been declared useless by Snam itself in communications at project meetings. Conceived as a means to make Italy a 'Gas Export Hub' at the beginning of the so-called 'energy emergency', nowadays all countries have plenty of gas supplies, so that this move has been declared a waste of monetary resources by Eni itself in national media announcements.
• It is dangerous: unique in the World to be planned offshore so close to the coast and urbanisations (2.8 km only), this industrial plant is equipped with technology unsuitable for operating in the open sea (as declared by Snam itself). In the very likely event of strong sea storms, near highly trafficked ports and onshore oil and chemical plants, the risk of a major accident is very high.
• It seriously damages the marine ecosystem: it involves the positioning of gigantic anchors and the carrying out of kilometer-long excavations in a stretch of sea characterised by strong biodiversity; it withdraws huge quantities of sea water (up to 18,800 cubic meters of sea water - the equivalent of 7 olympic swimming pools - every hour) releasing it back into the sea at a temperature 7 degrees centigrades lower than the sea water, while pouring enormous quantities of bleach into the sea (31.5 tonnes per year).
