As concerned citizens, Lampasas County property taxpayer and/or Lampasas school system citizenry we would appreciate your support. Together we can  put an end to this proposed Solar Plant.

We petition the Lampasas ISD and Lampasas County Commissioners court to vote AGAINST the establishment of a 1500+ Acre Solar Plant “Farm” (Approx. 500,000 solar panels) established under Texas Chapters 312 and 313 Reinvestment Zone for Tax Abatements and Property Value Limitations.  The Commissioners Court already denied the reinvestment zone once, but would need to resurface that decision if the school district applies for a Chapter 313 Value Limitation.  The people spoke once in a definitive way!

This Solar Plant would be located only a few miles from the Lampasas Court House between CR 3430 and CR3420 just northeast of the City of Lampasas.   

These Texas laws (Chapters) were put in place to stimulate the local economy, bring in jobs, encourage local investment and provide a financial benefit to the county.  It is intended to create local economic development.

 The Solar Plant does none of the above.  This project only helps the landowner and the Solar Plant developer enrich themselves while destroying our land and future economic opportunities for Lampasas County.  No other businesses or homeowners receive tax assistance.  Why should they? In addition, this project brings few, if any, local jobs and no secondary jobs or additional sales tax revenues

Why should a school district Board dictate what tax favors should be granted to developers and assist in the creation of Solar Plants?  Shouldn’t they focus on providing education to our citizens?
