NMC Document Dog ABC surgery & create feeding spots

NMC Document Dog ABC surgery & create feeding spots
The Issue
NMC has finally started picking up street dogs for sterilization.
But for the numbers to have reached 1lakh, and for NMC to not follow the Tag & Release system until published about:
How do we know the operation would be safe, structured and as per the Animal Welfare Board of India’s clearly stated Directives?
Source Times of India.
According to Advocate Ankita Shah, NMC was not tagging the dogs (Tagging helps move them to same spot). Dr. Gajendra Mahalle revealed he had no plans to release dogs on the same spot!
The latest news says, they have agreed to tag & release. But how do we know?
We have the right to know and ensure Animal Welfare Board’s directives are met:
Questions I have after having successfully got 5 of my area’s dogs sterilized:
1) If the dog catchers are trained to catch dogs humanely.
2) Documenting Catching: Who & How are they catching dogs.
3) The documentation of surgeries: The surgeon, the clinic, the post-op.
4) How do we know the numbers caught and whether they were released after surgery, if they died, if their stitches opened after release, if they were culled?
A. Please start new blog to document and use social media to keep the process transparent. We also want to see forms.
B. Revive & Involve the monitoring committee in all discussion, rule proposals and implementation.
C. Please create feeding spots:
Your signature will not just help show the success, but also bring us together in assurance that the surgeries are happening safely, ethically and in a structured, documented manner, accessible to everyone.
