Bellshill needs parks and green spaces.

This unspolied 6 acre, mature woodland will be destroyed to make way for 2 huge warehouses and a 24/7 lorry park. Bellshill is already over subscribed with warehousing and has a dearth of green space remaining. 

This land is presently used by the local community for walking and exercising. The local kids use it to play in. Wildlife such as deer, badger, rabbits, foxes and even bats live here/visit the area.

This land was once the grounds of the Bellshill Maternity hospital - part and parcel of the local Bellshill and wider North Lanarkshire Community.

This area would be better used as a public park with cycling provision connecting Bellshill Town Centre via Rockburn Park to the existing green spaces and carbon free/net zero cycle paths of Viewpark Glen, Airdrie and Coatbridge. This would improve local health and well being and increase the local liveability factor and quality of life, making Bellshill and surrounding towns a more valued place to stay.

This area could be named locally as the Rockburn Link and would become an invaluable asset to the people of Bellshill and North Lanarkshire.
