After years of advocacy, the Altaris Consulting recommendation, the results of this petition and other community input, Superintendent Mummenthey has included reinstating a School Resource Officer program in the proposed 2025/2026 school budget. However, at the March 11th Board of Education meeting, Board President Libbie Cococcia recommended that the SRO program BE REMOVED FROM THE 2025/2026 PROPOSED SCHOOL BUDGET and presented to the public as a separate proposition vote. 

It is unprecedented to separate budgetary line items as a proposition as it sets a dangerous precedent for future Board considerations. In our opinion, this is a strategy to attempt to have the SRO program voted down. The SRO program would likely pass in a budget, but as a stand alone line item taxpayers may view this as an additional cost and vote "no."  Additionally, it is important to note that the Altaris Report was confidential, therefore the community voting on SRO Programming without all of the background information regarding the recommendation would be inappropriate. Once again, our Superintendent and his team who are privy to this information, have included SROs in the proposed 2025/2026 school budget.

This could be voted on by the BOE as early as tomorrow (3/18). We need your help.
