Please Include "Other" Gender Option in Pokémon GO

This petition had 185 supporters

Pokémon started as a game with only a male protagonist. It wasn't until the addition of Kris in 1999's Pokémon Crystal that a female protagonist was made available, and began the now traditional phrase in the games of "Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?"

People identify with many more genders than this binary question suggests. Some are genderfluid, switching between genders, non-binary, identifying as a third gender, or agender, identifying with no gender at all. There are many more identities than just the three listed as examples.

As societies are continuing to evolve and recognize diversity in fellow human beings, so too should games as they are a reflection of society.

That is why we are asking that Nintendo, while Pokémon GO is still in development, to add an "Other" gender option to the game.

After all, Pokémon themselves have three genders (Male, Female, and Genderless): so why can't trainers?
