Get 3rd-Party support with big Nintendo-IPs
Das Problem
Nintendo, do yourself and us a favor and go shopping. You don’t have to pay for 3rd-party-support. At least not with money. But you could use some of your big IPs instead.
It’s well known, that Nintendo has more fan-wanted first-class-IPs than they can publish. And it’s also known, that Nintendo has a problem regarding 3rd-party support. So why not combine these two problems and make the best out of it? A win-win-win solution for Nintendo, the 3rd-partys and the fans. Give some of your IPs to external teams in change for their support for the WiiU.
For example, Mr. Miyamoto said, that Nintendo had no new, innovative ideas for a new F-Zero and that this is the reason why there won’t be a new F-Zero in the near future. But most of the fans don’t need new ideas and innovation to enjoy this game. I still play F-Zero GX and AX and I like it. The same game with new graphics, new tracks and a new story-mode would be more than enough for me. So, why not let SEGA make the game. They have proven to be capable before. Why not give them the IP and ask them for more WiiU-support on the way. An exclusive Yakuza perhaps?
And this could be done with plenty of IPs.
Give
1080 to Ubisoft
Advanced Wars To Atlus
Another Code to Telltale Games or Deep Silver
Battalion Wars to Double Fine
Chibi Robo to Konami
Disaster to Bioware/EA or Activision
Endless Ocean to Telltale Games or Deep Silver
Eternal Darkness to Epic
Excite Truck to Criterion Games/EA
F-Zero to SEGA
FireEmblem to SquareEnix
Geist to Bungie or Ubisoft
Golden Sun To Konami
Kid Icarus To Namco
Metroid Prime to 2Kgames
Metroid Other M to Team Ninja
Mother To Mistwalker
Pilotwings to Konami
Sin & Punishment to Capcom
Starfox to Bandai/Namco
Starfox Adventures to Bioware/EA or Bethesda
WaveRace to SEGA
You could also give some studios the rights to make new IPs with your characters. A Metroid RPG from Bethesda or Bioware would be great. Or why not a dark, mature Zelda-Spin-off RPG about Ganondorf and the way he became who he is from Bioware, Bethesda or even Epic or the old Darksiders-Team at Crytek. Give them good condition and I’m sure at least some of them will make an exclusive game for the WiiU or at least bring their new titles to the WiiU, too.
This way you can finish Mario Kart, Mario Wörld, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Zelda WiiU and some new IPs (I’d love to see a new IP from Retro. Or a new crossover-RPG with all Nintendo-characters like in Smash Brothers.) and your fans not only get lots of games, but a lot of really wanted Nintendo-IPs at the same time. And if everything works out, the 3rd-party support for the WiiU will become worth mentioning.
Nintendo, I’m sure you’ll find a way to make these IPs tasty for the thirds and still make a good amount of profit, beside the number of more WiiU-Consoles you’ll sell this way. So please, do it!
