This symbol offends hundreds and thousands of blacks and whites in South Carolina as well as other states. It is a confirmation that the state of SC still represents the racist views that were promoted by the confederates. In regards to it being history, electing a holiday would serve the interest. Whereas those who wishes to participate can. But to fly the flag, gives blacks, as well as others, the impression of a Government promoting the views of that movement. We're asking that the flag be taken down as a 'first' step to resolving a long drawed out issue.
