Nicky Morgan dropped plans to force academy conversion!

It is with the greatest pleasure that I share the news that the government listened to protesters, including parents and teachers but mostly their own Tory MPs, and Nicky Morgan announced that plans of forced academy conversion in England HAVE BEEN DROPPED yesterday - a day of historic elections in this country. Initial reports confirm that all councils with successful track records will be able to maintain their own schools, meaning good or outstanding schools won't be forced to convert. However, this is not the end of education problems under the current government, as parents will still be excluded from governor boards of the schools which will still choose to be converted to academies; in addition, shortage of school places, reduced school budgets and excessive testing are still issues families and the education sector need to deal with. It is worth making your voice heard! Online petitions, the successful kids strike this week, which started as a parent-led protest against SATS exams, letters, everything counts, so if you care about your kids education, contribute to the debate and share widely. Have a great weekend!
