Thank you to everyone who has submitted their objections to the Cell A application. To add insult to injury there are now plans to fell trees in and around Havannah and Three Hills Nature Reserve to make way for a car park and turning circle to accommodate new allotments for Newcastle Great Park residents. The proposals were made known at a drop-in session last week and are in their early stages, so nothing is set in stone. But we must act now to ensure these plans do not become a reality. Join us to publicly oppose the plans at 7pm on Thursday 25th May at Hazlerigg and District War Memorial Community Centre (NE13 7DE) and to send a clear message that the erosion of designated nature reserves and wildlife sites in Newcastle will not be tolerated. We need to make our presence - and opposition to the plans - known to councillors and Newcastle Great Park Consortium’s director, all of whom should be present at the community centre that evening for the Hazlerigg Parish Council meeting. In the meantime, please email your objections to: Allotments Officer: mark.todd@newcastle.gov.uk Communities Team: victoria.parkin@newcastle.gov.uk Newcastle Great Park Director: david.abercrombie@newcastlegreatpark.com Castle Ward Councillors: anita.lower@newcastle.gov.uk brian.hunter@newcastle.gov.uk ian.graham@newcastle.gov.uk Thank you for your support. We hope to see some of you at 7pm on Thursday.
