I have been cheering since I was 6 years old (im 17 now) and last night my teammates and I found out that the Athletic Director at our school has cut our program for the fall season. Many don't understand the heartbreak that comes with this. This sport is what keeps us motivated and next year I will be a senior.All I've ever wanted to do since my freshman year is walk across the football field on my senior night like every other senior has for any other sport and run through the senior banner with my fellow senior athletes. Our school barely recognizes our competitive team as a sport and doesn't give us the same respect that they give every other sport that's available to us here at Newark High School. We want a change. I can't imagine graduating high school without the sport I love being available to younger girls who share the same passion I do for this sport.
