We NPS students are already overwhelmed with the pandemic and virtual school. We high school students have to watch over and, for some, teach our younger siblings. Our mental health is already being negatively affected and with more classes clustered in a school day it will bring us down. Some of us have mental disabilities and this arrangement they have made for us is not going to help us. Staring at a computer all day will have a negative impact on our health. It will negatively impact our emotions, grades, and our daily lives.

Don't get us wrong, we are grateful for our virtual opportunity because it keeps us on our toes and has given us more mental stability, BUT we would like to maintain our current state of virtual learning. We have grown up with it and have settled with it. We understand that they want us to help each other to have more time in school but that is why we have office hours and we can contact our teachers. This is unfair for not thinking about how this decision made by a person who is not a student and does not understand our struggles will affect us. They took over without asking the students how we feel. They put aside our opinion and our rights to make decisions for the benefit of our well-being. They made a choice on our behalf without our consent and feelings in mind.

Los estudiantes de NPS ya estamos abrumados con la pandemia y la escuela virtual. Nosotros, los estudiantes de secundaria, tenemos que vigilar y, para algunos, enseñar a nuestros hermanos menores. Nuestra salud mental ya se está viendo afectada negativamente y con más clases agrupadas en un día escolar nos va a hacer descender. Algunos de nosotros tenemos discapacidades mentales y este arreglo que han hecho por nosotros no nos va a ayudar. Mirar una computadora todo el día tendrá un impacto negativo en nuestra salud. Impactará negativamente nuestras emociones, calificaciones y nuestra vida diaria.

No nos malinterpretes, estamos agradecidos por nuestra oportunidad virtual porque nos mantiene alerta y nos ha dado más estabilidad mental, PERO nos gustaría mantener nuestro estado actual de aprendizaje virtual. Hemos crecido con él y nos hemos conformado con él. Entendemos que quieren que nos ayudemos a tener más tiempo en la escuela pero es por eso que tenemos horario de oficina y podemos contactar a nuestros profesores. Esto es injusto por no pensar en cómo nos afectará esta decisión que tomó una persona que no es estudiante y no comprende nuestras luchas. Se hicieron cargo sin preguntar a los estudiantes cómo nos sentimos. Dejaron de lado nuestra opinión y nuestros derechos para tomar decisiones en beneficio de nuestro bienestar. Hicieron una elección en nuestro nombre sin nuestro consentimiento y sentimientos en mente.
