As New Yorkers, we are deeply concerned about the Adams administration's recent decision to allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to open an office on Rikers Island. This move directly contradicts the values of fairness, justice, and the protection of immigrants that New York City stands for. It also appears to be unlawful. 

Rikers Island has a long and troubling history of human rights abuses, and allowing ICE to operate there would only perpetuate this cycle of harm. New York City wants nothing to do with the aggressive and discriminatory tactics employed by ICE. 

As New Yorkers, we are increasingly worried about Adams' ability to lead our city. This order appears to be another attempt to keep up the alarming quid pro quo between Adams and the Trump administration. We know what we're seeing: Adams selling out vulnerable New Yorkers for personal gain. 

New Yorkers: Let's stand together to protect our city's status as a sanctuary for all. Sign the petition to reject Eric Adams' plans to install ICE on Rikers Island!
