Dear fellow New Yorkers,

A few months ago you signed my petition to force the MTA to put in subway barriers after the tragic death of Michelle  Go and many others.

The MTA-- because of your pressure and our engagement with concerned elected officials -- changed its tune from "it is impossible " to "let's move forward" on a pilot program on barriers.

I thought you would be interested in the progress on subway barriers.  The MTA is soliciting bids to build the pilot barriers in select stations! See the article I have enclosed.

While the article does not mention our petition, be assured that the MTA, the Governor,  the Mayor, Senator Schumer and others were well aware of your engagement and concern on this issue!

Be safe and remember to vote and fight on issues you believe in. Remember, each one of us can make a difference!

Also, look for my OpEd in the Daily News calling for a moratorium on building more homeless shelters, until the approximately 1000 vacant city apartments already slated for homeless people are given to the homeless,  AND until there is transparency on the exact numbers of homeless, and where and how homeless shelters are placed, so shelters are fairly distributed throughout the city, not just in certain neighborhoods.

Stay safe,

Just an ordinary New Yorker
