On July 6, 2020, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that international students who are taking classes entirely online this fall will not be allowed to enter the United States or must leave if they're already in the country. This puts a large amount of our NYU student population at risk.

No one should be forced to choose their life or their education. Without knowledge of someone’s health background, taking online classes in the current public health crisis should not jeopardise a student’s ability to continue their educational enrichment.

NYU prides itself on being a “global” campus. As students, we must urge our university to protect our international students and the richness they bring to our community. ICE has made it clear that the wellbeing of students on F-1 visas, even with blended classes, is at risk given their reckless and capricious announcement that capitalises on the vulnerability of students at this time.
