The intersection of Route 44/55 and Bruynswick located in the Town of Gardiner has been the site of many serious accidents in recent years with the last one on June 20, 2021 in which a member of the Gardiner Fire Department was killed. Many vehicles pass through this area and are put in danger everyday. The NYS Department of Transportation should install a fully activated traffic light or at minimum a four way stop sign in order to minimize the risk of future incidents at this intersection and improve traffic flow/right of way conflicts. The intersection is especially dangerous for those traveling south on Route 44/55 and those pulling off of Bruynswick road.
