WNYC Board of Trustees Meeting Thursday, Feb. 15

The next meeting of the New York Public Radio Board of Trustees – the body that oversees WNYC’s management – will be on Thursday, February 15. The meeting is at 9:15 in the morning, a time that seems designed to discourage public participation. We hope you will not be deterred.
The board needs to hear from the thousands of listeners who are outraged that Leonard Lopate could be escorted from the building after 32 years and that management still believes it can get away with giving no reasons for his firing. A month after Lopate and his fellow host Jonathan Schwartz were dismissed, CEO Laura Walker demoted Chief Content Officer Dean Cappello, but inexplicably allowed the firings to stand.
Ultimate responsibility for what goes on at WNYC rests with this board. Its members need to hear loudly and clearly that the only “inappropriate conduct” we see is on the part of station management.
Where: The Greene Space, WNYC offices, 44 Charlton Street (between Sixth Ave. and Varick Street)
When: Thursday, Feb. 15, 9:15 am
