Over the last few months, the Umbrella Hotel (124-18 Queens Blvd, Kew Gardens, NY 11415) has become a hotbed of violence and public health hazards. There have been numerous reports of large indoor gatherings, illicit drug sales, assault, public indecency and menacing. These incidents have culminated in two shootings at the hotel in recent weeks. 

The NYPD 102nd Precinct has been proactive in their enforcement of this situation. However, a coordinated City effort is necessary to protect the public. Repeated appeals to City agencies and hotel management have gone unanswered. As elected officials and community members, we stand united in calling on the Mayor's Office to coordinate an interagency response to this growing public safety issue.

We must act immediately, before more residents fall victim to senseless violence.
