Petition Opposing the Proposed 0.35Mill Tax Increase in 2026 which will be adopted at the final meeting of the year 12/30/25.

We, the undersigned residents of New Sewickley Township, respectfully submit this petition to formally express our opposition to the proposed tax increase exceeding 20 percent.

Many residents of New Sewickley Township are lifelong members of this community, including seniors living on fixed incomes and families managing tight household budgets. A tax increase of this magnitude places an unreasonable financial burden on residents who are simply unable to absorb additional costs.

Furthermore, many working families are not receiving cost-of-living increases from their employers, or are receiving increases that fall well below the current rate of inflation. Asking residents to shoulder a tax increase of more than 20 percent under these circumstances is neither practical nor fair.

We are also concerned about the lack of accessibility and transparency in the budgeting process. Scheduling a budget workshop at nine a.m. excludes a significant portion of working residents who cannot attend due to job commitments. Financial decisions that affect the entire township should be discussed at times that allow for maximum public participation.

It is time for New Sewickley Township leadership to listen to the voices of its residents. We respectfully urge the Township Supervisors to:

• Reconsider the proposed 20+ percent tax increase

• Explore alternative solutions to reduce spending thus reducing the township’s budget

• Schedule budget workshops during evenings or other accessible times

• Engage in meaningful and transparent dialogue with the community before making decisions of this magnitude
