Bywater Neighborhood Association Train Committee Quiet Train Petition

The Issue

Citizens of New Orleans:

Help establish "Quiet Zones" for trains in Bywater, Marigny, + St. Roch

Have you ever lost sleep due to loud train horns along Press Street and France Street?  By law, every train is required to blow its horn at least four times at each public crossing.  This noise problem is a major quality of life issue in Marigny, Bywater and St. Roch.  But, there's a smart community solution that all five neighborhood groups support.  It is called a Quiet Zone.  Automatic gates get installed at each intersection from St. Claude to Chartres and at Royal and Poland.  When that’s done, the train horns will blow no more. The City Council would authorize 20% of the cost, and 80% would be paid by the Federal government. From  Columbia, SC to Buffalo, NY and all over our nation (including Jefferson Parish) it’s happening.  And in New Orleans, it all begins with you.  Your voice.  Our VOICE:   Please sign this petition for a Quiet Zone so that officials hear us in big numbers.  Together, we can increase public safety.  We can silence the horns.  And, we can boost the quality of life in our great neighborhoods.

Our goal is to attain 500 signatures, so please share with your friends!
