In 2012, Warner Bros. released a 25th anniversary Blu-Ray for the 1987 live-action film adaptation of the classic toy line and animated series, 'Masters of the Universe'.  However, the film was not given any new bonus features and its only special features were a commentary track and a theatrical trailer that had previously been included on the film's DVD release.  2017 was the 30th anniversary of 'Masters of the Universe' and Warner Bros. did not release a special edition for that anniversary year.

Since Shout Factory has released various Special Editions of popular '80s films on DVD and Blu-Ray for fans to buy, we, the fans, hope that Shout Factory will consider making a new special edition DVD and Blu-Ray release of the film in 2022 for the movie's 35th anniversary year.  We hope that if a new Special Edition is made, that the new DVD and Blu-Ray release will add new bonus features for fans to enjoy, such as deleted scenes, new audio commentaries from cast and crew members, an alternate audio track only of the film's musical score by Bill Conti (as heard in the film, not the soundtrack release version), new interviews with cast and crew from the film, a photo gallery of production stills and/or a making-of featurette (old or new).

With "Masters of the Universe" gaining popularity again with new toylines and a new Netflix series, we, the fans, would like to see a Special Edition of the 1987 film 'Masters of the Universe' released as well.
