The Issue
Petition to Remove Coach Jeremy Zimmer as the Head Football Coach of Sweet Home High School Football Team
We, the community, parents, students and players of Sweet Home High School, are writing to formally request the immediate removal of Jeremy Zimmer, from the position of Head Football Coach.
A high school football program should foster athletic excellence, personal growth, safety, and mutual respect. Under the leadership of Coach Zimmer, the program has unfortunately failed to meet these standards. Instead of building a supportive environment that mentors young athletes, the current leadership has created a toxic culture that risks player safety and compromises the team's competitiveness.
We are calling for a coaching change based on the following critical issues:
Compromised Player Safety: The coaching staff has repeatedly allowed or pressured athletes to play through injuries, disregarding proper medical recovery timelines and putting the long-term health of student-athletes at risk.
Lack of Mentorship and Encouragement: Rather than motivating players through constructive feedback and mentorship, the coach relies on excessive penalties, alienation, and negative reinforcement that damages student morale.
Favoritism Over Merit: Roster decisions and playing time are consistently dictated by personal favoritism rather than performance, dedication, or teamwork. This has severely fractured team chemistry and hurt the team's execution on game days.
Negative Impact on Team Performance and Camaraderie: The combination of these issues has destroyed the team's unity, hindered individual player development, and resulted in a sharp decline in overall team performance and sportsmanship.
Our student-athletes deserve a leader who prioritizes their physical well-being, mentors them into resilient young adults, and builds a fair, competitive program. We urge the administration to take immediate action to restore the integrity, safety, and pride of our football team.
