Stop senseless animal deaths on the New Forest

Stop senseless animal deaths on the New Forest
The Issue
Updated on 8th April 2023. On 7th August 2021 my four year old New Forest Pony, Juma, who was living out, semi-feral, on the New Forest was killed by a driver who was eventually convicted of driving without due care and attention. Due to the lack of forensic evidence the court was unable to hear the details of the high speed which the police officer felt that the defendant was travelling although the District Judge was satisifed that, having seen Juma from some distance away, the defendant had failed to slow down at all.
As a result of Juma's death I began this petition for the NFDC and various other New Forest authories to support the commission of a Feasibility Study into the use of Average Speed Cameras along Roger Penny Way. This petition, along with a local one, led the council to agree. However, well over a year later, that Feasibility Study has not been commissioned because the various authorities are still deciding the terms of the study.
Although technically this petition has been successful, I have kept it open so that we might keep pressure on the relevant authorities, and also to keep you informed of progress.
