I have spoken to Edward Heron, Leader of the NFDC, about the meeting which is due to take place on Thursday, 20th January concerning the feasibility study. He tells me that every relevant authority will be represented at the meeting and that the aim is to identify every single issue that might crop up with the installation of Average Speed Cameras so that they can be addressed in the study - this will therefore go beyond the issues of funding and technology and cover issues such as the effect on the ecology of the Forest so that there are no sudden surprises (and therefore delays) after the feasibility study is completed. I have been asked to submit a video - along the lines of what I said at the Council Meeting in October - highlighting the impact that animal road deaths have on the people that own the ponies.
I am also told, by the police officer that attended the scene, that a summons should be issued shortly in respect of this particular collision - the cut off date for which is the 7th February. I am glad that the police are still going ahead.
