Although I have not received a formal letter from Councillor Heron, I am informed that at the most recent Verderers' Meeting there was confirmation that there will be a meeting which will include Mr Heron and Lord Manners, Official Verderer, on 20th January 2022 to discuss the Average Speed Cameras which could be installed on the B3078 - location, power supplies, landscape considerations, planning applications and practical implications. This is very positive news at a time of year when their tend to be more casualties than at any other time.

Just recently a pony was killed outright when a driver, apparently driving within the speed limit, failed to see a pony that was licking salt from the road surface as they were 'distracted by lights coming the other way'. Although this is a straight bit of road where it should be possible to see lights approaching from a long way off, this excuse is readily accepted even though the position of this 'accident' was only yards after a large yellow warning sign telling drivers that animals can be on the road night and day.

This pony will add to the total numbers for this year...currently shown as 100 casualties - which miraculously go back to zero on January 1st.
