In my workshops and conversations on gender sensitive reporting, this question is always raised, "If a lot of the current stock images used in sexual violence reporting are disrespectful, what is the alternative?"

For all those who wish to report on gender based violence with greater sensitivity, I have some great news. Feminism in India has put out stock images that can be used for any media content related to violence against women. They are empowering and show women as strong and resilient. These images, shared on the link below, have emerged from a crowdsourced Art Project and are open source and free to use.

Let us hope that these and similar images fast replace the visuals that stigmatise or erase the identity of sexual violence survivors, and that gender sensitive reporting encourages more survivors to come out and report.
