Renew Dark Matter for Season 4 or a Feature Film

Renew Dark Matter for Season 4 or a Feature Film
The Issue
Netflix, Amazon, Apple, and many others are investing significantly in new entertainment content. For the reasons outlined below, a reinvestment in the television series Dark Matter represents a sound investment.
Please sign this petition, and share it with others, to demonstrate your support to renew the television series Dark Matter for a fourth season or a full-length feature film!
1) Dark Matter's Popularity and Positioning Make It A Low Risk Investment
- The Dark Matter series was wildly popular in its original debut on Space/Syfy, garnering over 1.5 million viewers of the series premier on niche cable networks and a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 72%. After the show’s third and final season, a petition was created to renew the show, which gathered over 75,000 signatures. Both demonstrate a significant audience interested in continuing the series.
- Netflix has already grown the audience by placing Dark Matter on its streaming platform and suggesting Dark Matter in its Trending, Popular Now, and Suggested for [You] categories.
- Dark Matter Season 3 ended on a cliffhanger with multiple plot lines unresolved, introducing new characters, and with significant story left to tell!
- Science fiction fan audiences tend to be extremely loyal with shows often gathering a “cult following," which represents an audience ready to watch new Dark Matter content.
2) Demand for Streaming Content is Rapidly Increasing amidst Competing Platforms
- In one year, Netflix is expected to invest $15 billion in original entertainment and Amazon is expected to invest over $6 billion. Apple is also said to be investing over $6 billion in original content.
- The last two years have seen the launch of Disney+ and Apple TV+ platforms, as well as improvements in countless individual television/cable network streaming apps, requiring each platform to improve the success rate of its own entertainment offerings.
- The propagation of the novel coronavirus has driven people indoors, increasing demand for streaming entertainment on demand. This is expected to continue well in to 2021 with a possible continuation of social distancing measures until a vaccine is readily available.
3) Dark Matter has a Well-Developed Cinematic Universe for Expansion or Future Investment
- As with many developing cinematic offerings today, there is exceptional potential in leveraging a well-thought-out universe of political factions, explored worlds, known technologies, social classes, and economies.
- The Dark Matter cinematic universe has far reaching detail which offers the potential for crossover events between science fiction shows and the development of spin-off, prologue, or epilogue series with minimal investment required to write the cinematic universe.
Please sign this petition, and share it with others, to demonstrate your support to renew the television series Dark Matter for a fourth season or a full-length feature film!
