Most parties are more likely than not to have a cooler filled with ice cold water. This water comes in the form of water bottles. As most of us know, plastic water bottles are a huge concern for environmental waste, but many people refuse to give them up and that really won't change. The issue this petition is addressing, however, is the unnecessary waste of water and plastic simply because people can't find their water at a party or get-together. This problem is so widespread you can see it almost anywhere. Next time you are at a party take a second to look at all the half full bottles littering the floors and tables and imagine that all of that goes to waste. The problem occurs because all the mass produced water bottles look the exact same and when someone sets down their bottle they come back to multiple bottles that look nearly identical and rather than taking the risk of drinking someone else's water, they usually end up getting a new one. Now, all that needs to happen to solve this huge issue or at least reduce the effects of it is simply make most of the bottles unique. This idea in fact, has already been played around with by companies like coca-cola with their share-a-coke line. Water bottle companies need to put a unique message on their cap, could be a joke, a motivational saying, or even just an animal name, and I am sure their will be a great reduction in unnecessary water bottle waste.
