YES! Well, that’s the short answer. As many as you know, today was the last day the Booksellers at Laurelwood was open to the public. For many, this represents a time of great sadness; however, I argue that this should represent a time of hope. Don’t believe me? Read this quote from the Commercial Appeal article published today (link below): “when asked if there's hope that a successor bookstore will emerge, he [Cory Prewitt] smiled and said, ‘Yes.'” Cory Prewitt is the Chief Operating Officer for the Laurelwood Shopping Center. Now, if anyone knows what the future holds for the Booksellers at Laurelwood, it’s Cory Prewitt. We can’t be sure what this means for the legacy of Booksellers, but there’s one thing that we can be sure: while the physical location of Booksellers is closed, the story of Booksellers is most definitely not. Always remember #MemphisGetsLit, Emmett Miskell
