What an exciting day the past 48 hours has been for everyone and especially Booksellers! It’s been almost a day and the feedback we’ve received from the event has been incredible. We reached widespread media coverage, got hundreds of messages and comments on social media and the Booksellers Petition website. Like I said during our last Facebook Live event, the short term effects of our event won’t be immediately evident, but the long term effects are sure to pay off. Next, I’d like to give a huge shout out to all of our financial supporters that made this event possible: Illustrator ($1-$29) Cover Brooks Amateur Author ($30-$49) Diedra Wiener Gloria Baxter Kyle Furr Master Novelist ($50-$99) Candy Justice Book Hugger ($100 and above) Lara Firrone Lou Dobbs Melissa Kuperman Kirby Floyd Miki Brugge Mary Tabor Engel One major element of this event was a set of Facebook ads that I produced and put out a few days before the event. Through the ads, we reached over 100,000 people and informed them about our movement. Wow! That’s an incredible achievement that would not have been possible without the people listed above. They also made the website and several other parts of this event possible too. If you read the Commercial Appeal today, you might have noticed that I our movement made the headline of the business page. Great job keeping this petition and more importantly Booksellers relevant and in the news! It’s a great article and I encourage you to go check it out: http://www.commercialappeal.com/story/money/business/2017/02/15/readers-rally-today-save-booksellers-laurelwood/97935934/ If you’re like me and you need like to look at cold, hard data for proof, I’ve included some data below regarding our event yesterday: People reached through Facebook ads: 194,547 (with 2 separate ads) Comments directly on website: 46 Comments on social media: 206 Visits to website by different users: 816 Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the event. It was definitely a success in terms of what we’re trying to achieve. Going forward, I will be taking the weekend off to reflect on the impact of the Show Your Love For Booksellers Event and how we can more forward from here. So, there will not be any petition updates until next Monday (unless something exciting happens of course); however, I will be leaving the comments section of the website (https://www.booksellerspetition.org/write-a-message) open through the end of the week if you want to add your comment. Thanks to our financial supporters, we’ll be able to keep this movement going and the website up for at least several months (but hopefully we won’t need it for that long). You guys were amazing and I’ll see you on Monday! Always remember #MemphisGetsLit, Emmett Miskell
