Good morning book lovers and knowledge seekers alike, I’d like to thank you all for your continued support last week while I was out of the country and your hospitality to Sydney Prather while she filled in for me. Now that I’m back, it’s time to keep the legacy of Booksellers relevant in our local media outlets by explaining how important Booksellers is to our weekly, if not daily, lives. I know I’ve asked everyone numerous times to share this petition on their social media pages and with their friends and you’ve responded in an overwhelmingly supportive fashion. So, I’m only asking that everyone share this petition one more time and help us reach 3,000 signatures so we can show all of Memphis that we’re not willing to let Booksellers leave our community without all other possible options and opportunities being considered. I promise this is the last time I will directly implore you to share this petition; however, it is extremely important that we gather an impressive amount of support to exemplify the special place that Booksellers has in thousands of Memphians and other peoples’ hearts. Thus, please consider sharing this petition on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Text Messaging, Mail, MySpace, or just regular old face-to-face discussion. It’s the best way to help get the word out! On another note, the Memphis Daily News published a wonderful article about the petition while I was gone last week. In case you missed it, you can read it here: https://www.memphisdailynews.com/news/2017/jan/17/student-petitions-to-save-booksellers/ From here on out, I’d like to dedicate the last portion of the petition updates to upcoming events and activities at Booksellers as we do our very best to show our support for our beloved local bookstore. So, the “Upcoming at Booksellers” section at the bottom of these updates will have updated info about any special event at Booksellers. Upcoming at Booksellers Tuesday, January 24th, 2017: Kevin Wilson’s “Perfect Little World” 6pm-8pm (Note: This is an offsite event at Bounty On Broad (2519 Broad Avenue, Memphis, TN 38112) on the second floor. Discussion will start at 6:30, but doors open at 6:00 p.m.!) Wednesday, January 25th, 2017: Susan Rivers and “The Second Mrs. Hockaday” 6:30pm-8:30pm Always remember #MemphisGetsLit, Emmett Miskell
