Right now I’m in a battle with a dated and old ordinance. I need your support to defend our right to keep our aging and disabled pets. My beloved pets, a mix of two American mini pigs and our pups that have given us joy and companionship over many years. However, now that they are old and disabled, I find myself facing pressure from my neighbors to get rid of them. I reside in a non HOA small community in Firestone Colorado. My intention with the petition is to take to the town board and commissioners in Firestone. 

Our pets deserve to live out their twilight years with dignity and love. It's heartbreaking to think that my treasured animals, despite being well taken care of, can be subjected to forceful separation based on their age or physical condition. It’s worth noting that according to the Humane Society, pets with disabilities can live fulfilling, pain-free lives with the right care, which I have always provided.

We need to create an environment that values all life, regardless of age or disability. Too many animals are abandoned or put down due to old age or disability. In the US alone, 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters every year (ASPCA).

It’s time to challenge the antiquated mindset that impairs the rights of pet owners who lovingly care for their elderly or disabled pets. Please, sign this petition and help me protect my right to keep my beloved pets, and support all others who find themselves in similar situations.
