The Issue
UPDATE: They have removed the lock from the back gate, but they have locked the actual gate itself. Please keep sharing and signing this petition. We won’t stop until we reach a permanent solution. Thank you. NOTE: Even if you’re a Villas resident that doesn’t live by the back gate area, or you’re not a resident of this apartment complex, please still take the time to read and hope this also gets your support on this issue we’re facing. Hello, I am a resident from Villas at Bandera, San Antonio, TX. For several months now, our back gate that we used to walk through has now been locked by the home office staff. While their reasoning for locking it is understandable (to prevent unwanted people from going through, possible vandals), it also is less convenient for us residents that live by the gate (buildings 6-9) that want to use that gate to walk across the street to the little strip for food, or the school/daycare to drop their kids off without having to use a vehicle, or try to catch a ride/Uber somewhere, or just take a nice stroll around the block. Some of us have to try to squeeze through the small opening that the automated gate has while others (like myself) have to stand and wait for a car to drive up and open it, which sometimes takes up to 15 minutes! And when we do use a vehicle to return to our place, we have to either wait for, again, another car to go through the automated gate, or… drive all the way to the front gate and drive all the way back to our apartment. Also delivery drivers would have to drive all the way to the back to drop off food or groceries for back gate residents. And get this, the back gate, just like the front gates, is actually two gates (both labeled “exit only”) but only one of them works. Absurd! I think a few possible solutions could work: either update the entry pad on the walking gate and residents have their own code, or make the non-working back gate an entry gate and add a “back gate” option on the PalGate app. I mean, it is labeled as an entrance on the apartment map after all, so why not?! I need as many people to sign this if you would also love for these back gate issues to be fixed. I will end this all with some pictures below to strengthen this petition: Full apartment map, buildings 6-9 circled.
Buildings 6-9 zoomed in, car exit labeled as “entrance” circled.
Back gate locked up. Other side of gate with old entry pad. The two “exit onlys” at back gate. See how little space there is for a person to squeeze through? Me getting food from across the street, waiting for vehicle to pass.
How long it took until next vehicle opened automated gate.
