FIRST BLOOD
First blood is what is referred to as a child's first kill wether that be a Fox or Pheasant or other animal. It is celebrated and some will take the blood from the animal and smear it on the head or face of the child and refer to them as being in the SHOOT NOW and welcomed to the club like some kind of sick ritual.
The picture is showing a young lad who was out beating on a pheasant shoot, he apparently was very enthusiastic and really enjoyed the day. PASS IT ON YOUNG SPORTS is an organisation that says TOGETHER WE CAN INSPIRE and proudly featured this photograph on their Face Book page! Inspire children to kill and hunt animals for fun, desensitising at it's finest! The lack of compassion and honouring of all species life is unbelievable!
This organisation will be at the Great British Shooting Show inspiring children to hunt and kill Wildlife with dangerous weapons as if it's the norm!
THE CRUELTY BEHIND BEATING
Young pheasants are bred in captivity in holding pens, they are fed and watered in these pens and allowed out to walk in the fields or woods. The pen's are purposely positioned near fields with lots of cover or woods for them to hide. They are out all day and return back to their pen's at night.
When the shooting season starts, they are let out as normal into the fields that give them cover. A line of beaters form an arc shape with maybe 2 dogs.
The Beaters use a plastic flag that makes a cracking noise when its waved up and down and they use this to flush the pheasants out of their hiding places along with shouting and whistling. Pheasants have to run to take off and are lead towards the shooters with their guns as they fly over the guns they get shot.
Each shooter has a dog who will go and fetch the kill. A shoot will cost £500 per person and they will get to kill 120-150 Pheasants on that day for that price. If they kill more it's £35 per Pheasant shot. There are about 10 shooters that's a lot of beautiful pheasants killed for fun.
No one takes the Pheasants home to eat anymore and you can pay the Game Keeper 50p per bird to take it away or a large hole is scooped up in the ground and the Pheasants buried there.
Pheasants are not the only beautiful bird that gets shot, Jays, Partridge, Wood Pigeon would all be classed as fair game on the day.
DUCK SHOOTING
Ducks are purposely bred and raised in fenced in pools/ponds. They train the ducks by rattling the corn so the ducks always return to their food source back to the pond. As they fly in circles above the pond waiting to get back to their food they get shot.
BRED TO DIE
The cruelest death of all is to be purposely bred to die, to be trained and tamed in captivity using food and a false sense of safety is no different to the CANNED HUNTING that takes place in Africa with Lions.
Thank you to ex hunter/shooter/beater Kevin who shared some insight into this cruel sport for the wealthy!
