Insurance companies in Ireland are not legally obligated to disclose data on Category C & D write-offs, even though there are ongoing efforts to amend the law.

Currently, this loophole allows vehicles with previous insurance write-offs to re-enter the market without full disclosure, leaving consumers unknowingly at risk. Without mandated transparency, buyers may unknowingly purchase vehicles with severe prior damage, further exacerbating the failings of the NCT.
